Researchers from three different national laboratories and Lane County are working together to:
- Document the baseline conditions of the electric grid in Lane County
- Evaluate the backup power needs at critical facilities and develop a tool to help value resilience investments
- Plan for the electricity needs of industrial developments and future housing in Lane County
Power Lane County Electric Grid Handbook
National Laboratories researchers have created a primer which helps establish a baseline understanding of the electric system, called the Power Lane County Handbook. It identifies gaps and opportunities to improve the affordability, reliability, and resilience of the grid.
Critical Facilities Evaluation & Valuing Resilience
National Laboratories researchers are engaging in a data collection and mapping effort to help understand risks from natural hazards to the grid and plan for energy needs of critical facilities.
To help identify and plan for mitigation actions that can help sustain critical facilities in a disaster, the Labs will create a tool to put a value on resilience investments.
Future Demand Growth Analysis
National Laboratories researches will characterize electric loads for target industrial developments and planned future housing and work with Lane County utilities to standardize new large load connection processes.
