Track 1: Countywide

Researchers from three different national laboratories and Lane County are bringing together baseline energy information to help set the stage so that Lane County, in partnership with local electric utilities, can explore options for helping to make our energy system more resilient. This work aims to provide benefits across the entire county.

Goal: Build utility, government, and public collaboration toward energy resilience.

Need: Identify an opportunity to advance Power Lane County goals through collaboration.

Actions: Create a Handbook that describes the current electric power situation in Lane County from readily available sources; Analyze the backup power needs of critical facilities and identify/design potential strategies and systems for improved resilience;
Conduct technical analysis of a collaboratively- identified strategy with countywide benefit;
Develop implementation plans and identify funding opportunities for the identified strategy with countywide benefit.

Result: A detailed path forward for a strategy that has countywide benefit.
